Abstract :
This study of public relations and performance management in selected media organizations in South-East Nigeria used a survey to ascertain whether media organizations in Nigeria manage their organisations effectively through the use of public relations and performance management systems and to determine the relationship between public relations and performance management in the media industry in Nigeria. A descriptive survey method was used and the sample size was randomly selected from three media organizations in Enugu urban. The study found that the media organizations do not apply PR in pursuit of fulfilling their organizational goals but there was evidence of the use of performance management, which interfaced with public relations to achieve desired results. Based on the findings, the researchers recommend that media organizations should make conscious efforts to adopt PR and the concept of a performance management system in their operations to achieve their organizational
goals.
